“Fire Starter” is an item that shave a magnesium rod and scatter sparks to ignite it.
Many people who enjoy bushcraft camp use a fire starter instead of a lighter to start a fire.
The point is to ignite from tissue or newspaper and gradually ignite dead leaves and birch skin!

Fire starters are sold by various EDC brands, but I bought “Fire Steel Scout 2.0” because of its keychain-like design and ease of holding.
Fire starters come in a variety of shapes, so it’s a good idea to choose the one that suits you best when you hold it!

Actually, start a fire using “Fire Steel Scout 2.0”!
Here, I will introduce how to start a fire using “Fire Steel Scout 2.0”.
This time, we will start a fire using feather sticks, tissues, and firewood so that even beginners can easily do it. If you want to do a bushcraft camp, please refer to it.
Ignition method # 1. Custom a feather stick
This time, after igniting the tissue using “Fire Steel Scout 2.0”, transfer the fire to the feather stick, and then transfer the fire to the firewood.
The bushcraft knife I am using is Morakniv’s “Morakniv Companion MG Stainless”.
First, use a Mora knife to perform buttoning (chopping wood).
Let’s also custom feather sticks. To be honest, I’m always bad at making feather sticks (laughs). Don’t give up if it doesn’t work!

Ignition method # 2. Place magnesium shavings on the tissue.

It’s easy to hold, so you can sharpen it while holding it firmly!
Ignition method # 3. Use a striker (spatula) to disperse sparks.
If you rub the magnesium part with the attached striker (spatula), sparks will come out.
Sprinkle sparks at the shavings on the tissue!
As you get used to it, you will be able to custom big sparks.
Ignition method # 4. When the tissue is ignited, quickly transfer the fire to the feather stick.
When the tissue is ignited, let’s transfer the fire to the feather stick.
At this time, the point is to do it quickly so that the fire does not go out.
Ignition method # 5. Transfer the fire from the feather stick to the firewood.
Let’s transfer the fire to the firewood while the feather stick is burning.
Firewood that is dry is easy to transfer! On the other hand, if the firewood is not dried, the fire will not easily transfer, so be careful.
Ignition method # 6. When the fire is transferred to the firewood, increase the fire.
When the fire moves from the feather stick to the firewood, increase the fire so that it does not go out.
