Recommended outdoor knives for camping!

Knife, Shieldon

A knife is also called “the oldest tool of the mankind.” However, with modernization, the need for it has diminished, and it has been estranged because it is “dangerous.” There are signs of change in such a situation.

While being reviewed as a survival tool to save lives in a disaster, more and more schools and events are introducing knives as teaching materials to foster the ability to live strong and creatively.

Especially in the outdoors. Cooking, chopping wood, bushcraft … A safety fixed blade knifeis an indispensable item in the field, and if you can’t handle it, you can’t say it’s full-fledged. For that matter, the person who can freely manipulate the knife is the coolest in the outdoors.

Here, the blade and handle are integrated, and there are no moving parts, so it is a very sturdy knife. A “sheath knife” is stored in a sheath and a type that can be safely carried by storing the blade in the handle. Let me introduce the “folding knife” that is the mainstream overseas.

Folding knife maintenance technique

The knife can be maintained with the same maintenance as at home, but the personalized pocket knives is a little troublesome. It is crucial to sharpen the knife’s blade and adequately remove dust and dirt that collects the gaps between the moving parts and the sheath that houses the tools. At the same time as cleaning, check that the knives and tools are stable and safe to use.

Soak in lukewarm water containing a neutral detergent

Open the tool and soak it in lukewarm water containing a neutral detergent to remove dirt. After removing the ground with a brush or cotton swab, wash away the detergent components with water. Wipe off the moisture with a cloth and expose it to the wind for a while to evaporate the moisture.

Inject dirt remover into moving parts

Spray a rust preventive on the moving parts of the tools, rotate each device several times to allow it to penetrate the gap, and wipe off excess liquid. Be careful not to get a drink on the tool body, especially the knife’s blade, which often cuts food.
