The appeal of “SANGA” is its 3.2mm blade thickness and tough full tongue structure!

OLFA, famous for its “folding blade type cutter knife,” launched it as an EDC brand called OLFA WORKS in the spring of last year, making use of its knowledge and experience in making cutters, and has released bush craft knives and other products.

 

And this spring, we will release a full-scale knife “EDC Knife Sanga” (SANGA) [hereinafter, SANGA], which is a must-have item for camping!

 

The charm of “SANGA” (1) ★ Full tongue!

“Full tongue” is a type in which the metal that makes up the blade penetrates from the tip of the knife to the back of the handle, making it the toughest of all knives.

 

As you can see from the back of the steering wheel in the above picture, the full tongue is only Sanga.

 

You can baton with a knife that is not full tongue, but it may break from the root. If you want to baton, we recommend a knife with a full tongue structure that you can hit hard.

The blade thickness is 3.2 mm and 6A stainless steel is used. I tried batoning with “SANGA”! The author who does not usually do batoning with a knife is also convinced ♪

I usually baton with a hatchet. The land sword he has is mainly for cooking and he doesn’t do much batoning with a knife. I don’t have a full tongue, so this time I tried batoning with a full tongue knife for the first time.

There is a fundamental difference in the mechanism between splitting firewood with an ax or hatchet and splitting with a knife. Rotational energy concentrates on the cutting edge of the ax and hatchet due to centrifugal force, and the force causes the ax and hatchet to crack. In the case of a knife, by hitting the cutting edge, the cutting edge becomes the point of effort, the part of the blade becomes the point of action, and the place where the grip is held becomes the fulcrum, and it breaks by this principle.

We introduced “SANGA” this time, but there is no universal knife in the camp. The company’s “Bushcraft Knife BK1” introduced here is overwhelmingly powerful in feather sticks and crafts, but it is not suitable for batoning.

 

“SANGA” is a knife suitable for batoning, but when it comes to fine craft work, it will not be able to beat “Bushcraft Knife BK1”.

 

Also, as a survival knife, it may be easier to use a wave blade suitable for ivy and rope cutting and a type with a slightly wider blade width. The point is that what you choose depends on what you have the knife for.

 

The only thing I can say is that “SANGA” has enough specs in terms of enjoying general camping. If you don’t need a special purpose, “SANGA” is a recommended knife because it is made of stainless steel, which is hard to rust, has a good sharpness, and has a stylish design.
